The widely reported case of R (on the application of Frederick Ayinde) v Haringey London Borough Council; Al-Haroun v Qatar National Bank QPSC [2025] EWHC 1383 (Admin) demonstrated the potential pitfalls of using AI in conducting litigation. This webinar will look at some of the legal and ethical issues raised by the use of AI by considering recent case law and guidance in this area. It will also look at other legal developments in the use of technology by reviewing case law and guidance concerning communication by Whatsapp and the Online Procedure Rules.

This webinar will consider recent case law in some key areas of civil litigation. The webinar will start by discussing issues concerning service of the claim form and proceedings. It will then consider recent decisions on amendment of statements of case. 

The second half of the webinar will discuss some issues relating to conduct of proceedings and settlement. In particular, it will review recent cases on refusal to mediate. The webinar will also look at recent case law on indemnity costs, Tomlin Orders and interpretation of settlement agreements.
