What does the Budget mean for Agricultural and Business Clients?
Presented by Professor Lesley King.
The changes announced in the Autumn Budget to Business and Agricultural Property Relief to take effect from the start of 2026/27 are very bad news and clients are understandably concerned. There is no magic bullet but there are things that clients can consider which may help.
In this session we will look at:
- What we know so far about the changes.
- How they affect property held in trust.
- Implications of handing on the business by lifetime transfer as opposed to keeping it till death.
- Use of post-death variations to improve position on a first death.
- The dangers of building up a cash fund to meet the liability.
What powers to include in Wills and Trusts?
Presented by Professor Lesley King.
The publication of the third edition of the STEP Standard Provisions has caused many practitioners to question whether they should use the Standard Provisions or something more ‘tailor made’ for the administrative powers section of their Wills and Trusts.
This session will:
- Explain the difference between an administrative provision and a dispositive one and why it matters.
- Provide an overview of what the STEP Provisions do and the main changes introduced by the third edition.
- Consider when tailor made provisions may be more appropriate.
Estate Planning: Strategies for Clear Advice and Comprehensive Reports

Nil Rate Band Discretionary Trusts: The Past, The Present & Practical Solutions
Presented by Parisa Jones.
