The recent RTA Pre-Action Protocol amendments announced by the MOJ, to coincide with the increase in small claims track limit and the launch of the ‘Official Injury Claims Service’ which is for road traffic accident claims that occur on or after 31 May 2021, will affect how the Claims Portal and A2A work.

This means case management software suppliers, like Select Legal Systems Limited, have work to do to ensure their integrations with the service continue to function as efficiently as they did before the changes.

Despite only receiving confirmation of the technical information needed from the authorities very recently, the authors of LAWFUSION, the popular legal practice management software for law firms, have already begun work assessing and outlining the amount of software development required to adjust their integrations to the claims portal and A2A to embrace the MOJ’s imminent changes. As a result they have scheduled in the work and plan to implement and test it as a priority, in order to get it to users as soon as logistically possible.

The LAWFUSION development team will involve RTA law firms, that are existing users of the software, as part of their research and testing processes to ensure the changes are reflected effectively for PI Road Traffic Accident users.

Claims Portal Limited (the not-for-profit organisation responsible for managing the portal and improving its overall performance and functionality) has warned ‘further changes may follow later in the year.’.

This LAWFUSION development project does not include further MOJ PI changes relating to the Official Injury Claim Portal (e.g. medical reports in whiplash claims etc.), which are on the horizon. These are in line to be assessed by Team LAWFUSION next.

Select Legal Systems Limited provides A2A integration for PI firms who are users of LAWFUSION, providing the means to securely manage their claims via the Claims Portal straight from LAWFUSION’s case management modules, preventing double entry within the claims process for Road Traffic Accident claims (and also for employers’ liability / public liability).
