HM Land Registry is transforming Local Land Charges searches by consolidating local authority registers into a centralised, digital service. This online service eliminates local variations in price, speed and format for customers and provides a standardised service across England.
This ambitious step forward furthers the Government’s commitment to make the homebuying process simpler, faster and cheaper. It is also an important part of our aim to improve the entire conveyancing process.
The service currently holds the local land charges data of 10 local authorities, with many more still to come.

Please note that the information in this webinar was correct at the time of recording (January 2020) but some details may have changed since then. For example, three further local authorities have since joined the service – Peterborough City Council, Watford Borough Council and Carlisle City council, with East Lindsey District Council due to transfer on 26 June 2020.
